Wonderful Human Week - *María Isabel Pepió*


¨ Be a Blessing ¨ started five years ago, with the dream of helping people of Guatemala in need and to be able to make a change and impact on their lives with the handmade bracelets.  
When I first started, I was making myself the bracelets and distribute them, within months the project started to grow and I had the pleasure of going to the Home Sisters Martha and Mary (Hermanas Marta y María) in Jalapa, which has about 101 girls. The girls started making the bracelets so I was in charge to distributed them in the capital and abroad. With the proceeds, I could provide water to the girls as well as uniforms, supplies, and diapers for babies who also live in the home. 
Two years after creating the project, I was offered to work with a group of about 50 women of the capital which needed work, I agreed and decided that the project would rely on help different locations and each location would design a style that would identify them. So we started to work designs that include wire bracelets, pendants and varieties. 
The project walks alone now, which is a blessing and has been able to provide as much work and donation to the home and the families of Guatemala. It is intended that they feel pleased to see the fruit of what they do with their hands, and not just to receive the donation. They love to see that people use the bracelets and know they have a meaning, this is the project of my life. 
I am currently finishing my studies and practices in clinical psychology, I want to implement this knowledges in the project in order to also help thereby people in need. 

¨ Be a Blessing ¨ comenzó hace 5 años, con el sueño de poder ayudar a gente necesitada de Guatemala, hacer un cambio e impacto en sus vidas con las pulseras hechas a mano.  
Comencé haciendo las pulseras yo misma y distribuirlas, en cuestión de meses el proyecto comenzó a crecer y tuve el gusto de ir a el Hogar Hermanas Marta y María en Jalapa, el cual tiene alrededor de 101 niñas. Las niñas comenzaron hacer las pulseras y yo era quien las distribuía en la capital y el extranjero. Con lo recaudado, se pudo brindarle a las niñas agua ya que el pozo estaba arruinado, uniformes, útiles, y pañales para bebés que también viven en el Hogar.  
A los dos años de crear el proyecto, me ofrecieron trabajar con un grupo de alrededor de 50 señoras de la capital, las cuales necesitaban trabajo, acepté y decidí que el proyecto se basaría en ayudar a diferentes lugares y cada lugar tendría un diseño el cual lo identificaría. Así que comenzamos a trabajar los diseños de pulseras con hilos, y variedades de dijes.  
El proyecto camina por sí solo, lo cual es una bendición, ya que se le ha podido brindar tanto trabajo como una donación al Hogar y a las familias de Guatemala. Se busca que ellas sientan satisfacción al ver el fruto de lo que ellas hacen con sus manos y no únicamente recibir una donación. Para ellas es un gusto el ver que la gente usa sus pulseras y saber que estas tiene un significado. Planeo que este proyecto sea el proyecto de mi vida. 
Actualmente estoy terminando mis estudios y prácticas en psicología clínica, estos conocimientos los deseo implementar en el proyecto así para poder ayudar también de esta forma a la gente necesitada.   


Maria Isabel is an extraordinary girl! Very lovely, smart, enterprising, compassionate and altruistic. She loves Guatemala and its people, which led her to start this noble project that is  and became part of a very amazing and important movement for the country called ¨ Perhaps You Need a Little Guatemala ¨ of which I will talk to you about another day.

Wonderful Human Week - *Andreé Dubois*

¨ I like expressing myself through a lot of sarcasm and humor ¨

Andreé is a 20 year old entrepreneur who started his clothing line from the need to have cool clothes sharing statements and his thoughts in a different way.

Wonderful Human Week - *Silvinaa*

¨ I close my eyes and imagine things that can be cute draw them, I have very bad memory, I am silent, I am addicted to coffee, pizza, donuts and I think all kinds of desserts, like the time I ate 11 cotton candy, anyway I am not beautiful or ugly, just strange sometimes ¨ - Silvinaa 
Silvia is 25 years old, she is an illustrator and graphic designer. From age 8 she began to paint and has not stopped since. She likes telling stories through pictures and her main inspiration is Women and its surroundings, the loving failures, uncomfortable situations,mental surrealism, nature, food, drama and sometimes autobiographical situations, even their fears. 
She is super talented and also has a clothing brand called ¨ Origami Clothes ¨ where her drawings next to her husband ´s, take a different approach becoming awesome garments. 
In the future she looks herself drawing a lot, she wants her clothing line reach more people and to never stop doing what is really her passion: painting, drawing, and creating.  

¨ Cierro los ojos y me imagino cosas que pueden ser lindas dibujarlas, tengo muy mala memoria, soy silenciosa, soy adicta al café, pizza, donas y creo que a toda clase de postres, como la vez que me comí 11 algodones de azúcar, en fin no soy ni guapa ni fea solo extraña algunas veces.¨ - Silvinaa
Silvia tiene 25 años, es Ilustradora y diseñadora gráfica. Desde los 8 años comenzó a pintar y no ha parado desde entonces. Le gusta narrar historias a través de dibujos y su principal inspiración es la mujer y todo su entorno, los fracasos amorosos, las situaciones incómodas, el surrealismo mental, la naturaleza, la comida, el drama y algunas veces situaciones autobiográficas, incluso sus miedos. 
Ella es super talentosa y también posee una marca de ropa llamada ¨ Origami Clothes ¨ en donde sus dibujos junto a los de su esposo toman otro enfoque y se convierten en prendas maravillosas.  
En un futuro se mira dibujando mucho, desea que su línea de ropa llegue a más personas y no dejar de hacer lo que en verdad le apasiona: Pintar, dibujar, crear.  

Silvinaa described herself as neither beautiful or ugly, I think she is super beautiful inside and out. In the Confetti Box you can find some stickers designed by her as well as a ¨Fanzine¨ which is an illustrated magazine that recounts the situations that women go through: heartbreak, depression, low self-esteem, etc. but she tells them in a very funny way, I felt totally identify with it because it's true, we go through so many difficult situations and often is not something external is just simply hormonal hehe, and what matters is what she says at the end: 
¨ We are more than beauty and much more than a body, we are more than sadness and much more than the illusion of a man are WOMEN. ¨

Silvinaa se describe a si misma como ni bonita ni fea, yo pienso que ella es súper bonita por dentro y por fuera. En la Cajita Confetti puedes encontrar unos stickers diseñados por ella así como una ¨Fanzine¨ la cual es una revista ilustrada que relata las situaciones por las que pasamos las mujeres: Desamor, depresión, baja autoestima, etc. pero lo relata de una forma muy graciosa, yo me identifique totalmente con ella porque es cierto, pasamos por situaciones difíciles y muchas veces no es algo exterior es simplemente hormonal hehe, lo importante es lo que al final ella dice: 
¨ Somos más que la belleza y mucho más que un cuerpo, somos más que tristezas y mucho más que la ilusión de un hombre somos MUJER. ¨

Hi! 
This week I want to talk about 3 wonderful Guatemalans, who daily give the best of themselves doing what they love. They are super talented entrepreneurs, they are dreamers and fighters, but on top of all, they have a very beautiful heart and believe in people and their country. 
I also believe that in Guatemala you can achieve dreams so I support all those people who are struggling to achieve them, the idea is to walk together and to be a better person every day and prove that we are more than negative facts and that we want to live in a country where you can get ahead and make a decent living.

Hola! 
Esta semana les quiero platicar sobre 3 Guatemaltecos maravillosos, quienes día a día dan lo mejor de si mismos haciendo lo que aman. Son super talentosos, emprendedores, son soñadores y luchadores, pero sobre tienen un corazón muy lindo y creen en las personas y en su país. 
Yo también creo que en Guatemala se pueden lograr los sueños y apoyo a todas esas personas que luchan por alcanzarlos, la idea es que caminemos todos juntos y seamos cada día mejores, así demostraremos que somos más que hechos negativos y que deseamos vivir en un país en donde se puede salir adelante y tener una vida digna.
